Why did I join Sa Suudad NGO?

Hey! I'm Evert, a young advisor and spokesperson for youth involvement. I'm 20 years old and from Tartu. For me, the most important thing is that young people have a voice, space, and courage to talk about issues that really affect us.
My journey to this point began with personal experience. In my life, I have felt how much it can mean when someone really listens to you and understands you, but also what happens when that is missing. It is this knowledge that has shaped my desire to support other young people – that they would know that they are not alone.
I have shared my story at many conferences, on many panels and in many discussions, and I continue to do so without shame, which often accompanies difficult experiences. These are moments when I realize how powerful honesty and vulnerability can be. My goal is not to talk only about the difficulties, but to show how experiences can become a source of strength and what changes are needed in systems affecting young people. I really like the idea that young people's voices should be heard not only in discussions aimed at them, but also in decisions that shape society as a whole. Through the activities of the NGO Sa Suudad, I contribute to youth counseling and the promotion of a culture of discussion. I help to create an environment where every young person can confidently express their thoughts, learn from their experiences, and support others.
I am convinced that young people do not need to be saved – they need someone who will truly listen to them and believe in them. I believe that young people's opinions are not just an add-on, but an important part of decision-making processes. I would like society to stop talking about young people and start talking with young people – because that is when real change happens. You can do it!
