FAQ

What is the goal of the NGO Sa Suudad and who is your target group?

The goal of the NGO Sa Suudad is to be an organization for inclusion, support, and advocacy for young people who are experiencing or have experienced risk behavior. We want every young person to receive the support they need and to always be meaningfully involved in decisions that affect their lives. A core principle of our organization is to genuinely develop and implement support methods together with young people, and to support adults as well.

How do you support young people?

We are currently developing a program for experienced peer mentors. The goal of the program is to restore young people's trust in themselves and in adults through the consistent and caring support of a trusted person, to develop their self-regulation skills, which in turn helps reduce risk behavior. Read more about our program here: https://www.sasuudad.ee/kup/

Who has written the messages we display on the website?

The messages have reached us through various young people (aged 12–25) who are experiencing or have experienced risk behavior.

How does your work differ from other youth-focused programs?

Our focus is on a long-term, one-on-one, trusting relationship between the young person and an experienced adult. Our program has been developed together with young people who have experienced risk behavior, and the support is provided by young adults who have themselves previously engaged in risk behavior.

What is your long-term vision?

Our 5-year vision is to become a center of competence in the field that supports both young people and their close ones/families in difficult situations, helps prevent and reduce risk behavior, and creates opportunities — together with young people themselves — to improve their overall well-being.

We develop support measures for young people by offering early intervention, individual support, and community-based solutions. We also provide support targeted at young people’s close ones and families to help strengthen family relationships and enhance support through their loved ones. We promote network-based cooperation by building connections between different stakeholders to ensure effective and needs-based support for young people. We raise public awareness about young people’s needs in order to shift societal perceptions. We also support greater youth participation and decision-making in processes that affect them, including policymaking.

How can young people participate in the activities of NGO Sa Suudad?

Young people can contact us through the contact form at the bottom of the page or find us on social media @sasuudad (Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok).

Is participation free for young people?

Yes, all our activities are free for young people.

Do families also receive support?

At the moment, we have not yet developed specific support methods for the families and close ones of young people, but we plan to do so. One of our board members, Enelis, is currently studying to become a family therapist for this very reason. In the meantime, you are always welcome to reach out to us with your concerns, and we will support you as best we can. You can contact us through the contact form at the bottom of the page or find us on social media @sasuudad (Facebook, Instagram).

What can I do as a volunteer with NGO Sa Suudad?

Volunteers are very welcome at our NGO! We need support with social media, legal matters, event organization, and much more. In addition, we are especially looking for people who would like to become experienced peer mentors or mentors for them.
